New England is not known for its concentration of awe-inspiring National Parks. When one thinks of these places, usually what comes to mind are the monumental faces of Yosemite’s El Capitan of Half dome, or perhaps Old Faithful with her clockwork exhalations of water like a whale’s blowhole. It’s true, the most breathtaking National Parks are generally west of the Mississippi River, and you should definitely put them on your bucket list. However, the upper right corner of the US does have number of properties managed by the National Park Service, ranging from the pure outdoor-lovers paradise to the small historical sites that bring some of our nations greatest historical moments to life.  Some of these Parks make for a great summer vacation all on their own, and some are good to visit for a short hour or two. Whatever the case may be, one thing is for certain: You will have a greater appreciation for the National Parks system, and understand why it has been called “America’s Best Idea.”
